Why Triton Matters
The process of planning a vacation in 2025 can feel… overwhelming.
If you are anything like me, about mid way through the marathon of life, you remember a time not too long ago when planning a vacation was simple; book a trip on your favorite airline, maybe choose between one or two hotels, pack one suitcase, and you were off.
Those days are gone.
In the past decade, global tourism has exploded, now accounting for one in ten jobs worldwide. With that growth came a tsunami of options. A simple Google keyword prompt for golfing in Los Cabos will return a list of options so wide as to make the Grand Canyon seem like a mere ditch. There is actually a psychological term for what happens next. It is called choice overload, and it can be tiresome enough to make even the most eager wanderluster throw up their hands in confusion.
That is precisely why local knowledge is going to be one of the most valuable resources in the new, post-ai tourism economy.
Don´t get me wrong – artificial intelligence will continue to improve in its task of vetting the hottest restaurants, incredible live music venues, and overall best picks for fun in any vacation destination, but I think that it will be several years off, if ever, that it replaces the sage advice and subtle street smarts of a real local.
Lets take Cabo as an example.
If you, as an American tourist that looks, well, American, walk down to the marina in Cabo, you are going to be immediately identified and targeted. Several hustlers will try and sell you the boat that are representing, and they will often misrepresent it. They also will quote you a price based upon the quick character assessment they make of you. If you are a well-dressed, middle aged American, for instance, they are going to potentially tack several hundred dollars on top of their normal price for the vessel.
How do I know this? Because I live here. Because my business partner used to be one of those guys who would price based upon what he thought a customer could pay. He told me all of their tricks, and they are not so pleasant.
That´s exactly why we built the Triton Collective.
Triton levels the playing field, charging everyone the same price regardless of nationality. We also present details, pictures and videos of the boat online for you to peruse at your own leisure. We assure that the captain and crew are licensed and professional.
Our goal is simple – to make the process of finding and booking the optimal vacation for your budget in Cabo simple.
